Looks like MDI code has too much hacks for child activation and switching
between children. There are places when activation messages are sent
manually instead of relying on (de)activation done by the system. That
code needs a major clean up and an overhaul.

I've added that into my task list and when I have a break from more
important work I'll have a look at it. Feel free to beat me with that.
