quicken 2007 ungodly slow

strace shows it's looking over and over for all my
fonts in all the wrong places. This is made
even slower by the fact that I added the winsxs
directories to the PATH, adding even more places
for it to look and not find them.
It's also doing an insane amount of
directory reading.

OK, sorry for the noise.  I guess I'm abusing the
mailing list as a place for my personal notes :-)
