[OLE #44] Custom Marshaling Fix

Hi,

My patch a while ago to clean up and consolidate the generic marshaling 
functions caused a regression with custom marshaling. This patch fixes 
it. It wasn't caught because we don't currently have any tests for 
custom marshaling. I'll fix this soon.
