So I used 'git format-patch --stdout --inline' and somewhere (probably 
in alpine) extra CRs got inserted. Fortunately patch is kind enough to 
ignore them so the patch should apply fine (it did here), eventhough it 
may look ugly (it certainly is ugly in alpine). I will do some more 
tests for the next round :-(
