Some Newbie Questions

Hello out there,

i'm just started using wine myself. After reading through the Readme's and
FAQ's i still have some basic questions. Hopefully someone can help me out.

1. Because i use wine mainly for games (Linux does the rest :) i downloaded
the "DirectX" patches from Transgaming.com for the wine.src. Is this the way
to go or is the directx development now in the offical releases at winehq ?
The patches are only avaiable for older releases.

2. Is there any good documentation about the --debugmsg output of wine ?

3. Are there any Step by Step Web-Pages describing most common games under
linux with wine ?
