That's normal, there simply is no such thing as 3D acceleration
support for this card in Xfree 4.x. People are slowly working on it
(you can get it from CVS at dri.sourceforge.net), but it's still
much less stable and fast than the Utah-GLX drivers which only exist
for Xfree 3.3.6.
