Newbie needs help in installing Wine

Hi! I've been trying to install Wine for the past few days, reading
newsgroups and documentations, but I still cant figure out what to do.
Any help will be much appreciated as I'm just beginning to migrate to
Linux.

Part1
Steps I did:
 Okay, here's what I did..
 1) mount the my windows c drive 
    mount -t vfat /dev/hda1  /c
 2) installed Wine
   ./tools/wineinstall
 
Error I got:
  Searching for an existing Windows installation... not found.
  
  Windows was not found on your system, so I assume you want a
Wine-only installation. Am I correct? (yes/no)

Question 1:
  How do I make wine find my Windows installation? Isn't this done
upon mounting (step 1 as above)?
