remotely displayed programs run only once

Ok, start looking at the nuts and bolts.

with either top or ps, check to see what processes are
running before the normal startup, durring run, and
after the application has shutdown.

something some where is not getting cleaned up or
reset until you logout of the remote machine.

and yes i'm grasping for straws, but i can't think of
anything else to check.
