Menu refresh

Hello folks, I have installed the latest wine code 20020311 and am having some issues. The installation/compile etc.. of the code went well and I have everything setup and working. Wine is behaving strangely, in that whenever I start an application (I have attempted different ones, Notespad, Wordpad, Dreamweaver) the programs launch fine but when I use the dropdown menus, the screen does not refresh to get rid of them once I have selected the action. I end up having 'shadows' if you will all over the wine desktop which requires me to shutdown wine and restart

I am running RH 7.1 with a 2.4.18 kernel. I am also running gtk 1.2.10. with a default X install. No previous version of windows is installed.

Is there any tweaking of either the X / Gnome / gdk or Wine config files that is needed?

Any help would be appreciated.
