I have read that before but I didn't notice the section on glztrick which
purports to fix see-through surfaces and flickering graphics - exactly my problem!

I will try this out once I get Half Life to work at all... it's sticking at the
menus again, so I need to check what I've done, bit I'm in the middle of ripping
a dvd (Tron) and it's taking days, so I'll wait till it's finished before I
start tweaking things.
