IIRC, the problem with the *nix native client for Yahoo IM, was that it 
did not support the "Chat" feature, which allowed an IRC-like forum to 
chat in.

That might be why people want to get the Windows version running under 
Linux - because Yahoo's committment isn't as great as the want you to 
*think* it is.
