Right, I was thinking mostly of .rpm vased distro's.  IIRC Ove Kaaven
takes care of .deb's for wine, so probably the dpkg equivalent of

 "rpm -ql wine"

or "rpm -qlp <RPMS>/*"

should find the doco and samples.
