Newbie question re regedit

Except I don't seem to be able to find the "documentation"on my machine.
which is RHEL3ws running the 20031212 RH9 rpm version of wine.
Installed a few days ago.
Certain error messages lead me to think I need to do the "vital" thing
quoted above but how?
Could someone walk me though it please
