Dear list,

A rather longstanding (from since 2004, i think, upto wine 0.9.4)
problem with Need for Speed 5 Porsche Unleashed is as follows
(with WINEDBG="loadall"):

deepfire at betelheise:/mnt/etherstorm/games/win32/need_for_speed_5$ wine

Initializing rendering
<*** At this point a dialog appears, whose text is supplied below ***>
<*** OK pressed ***>
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x0000000c at address
0x41419c16 (thread 000d), starting debugger...
[at this point it gets fairly boring, because apparently it`s going down
a pessimistic codepath, so skipped]

Dialog text:

"You have DirectX 0. Please install DirectX 7. Couldn`t
load ./drivers/softdrawz ....."

Where the softdrawz part apparently refers to a software rendering
fallback upon dx0 discovery.

If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to
ping me.
