If you are seriously looking at porting your VB apps to linux I'd suggest 
you take a look at Gambas[0]. It may enable you to run the ported apps 
natively rather through a not emulation layer. Of course either way you'll 
have to do a bit of work to get it all running without any problems.

A useful thing to consider about Gambas is that the IDE is written in 
Gambas which means if you come across a bug, and you know enough about 
Gambas, then you'll have a good chance of fixing it.
