That kind of message usually means that the app is copy
protected.  jackbridge.com's FAQ confirms that
"cdrom protection" is used.

suggests that the copy protection in question might be safedisc.
Wine does not yet support safedisc; that's
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=219

Work is under way to add safedisc support, but there is no target date yet.

You can make your next bug report even better:
a) your subject line should say which program had trouble
b) you should mention the version of wine you're using
