If it appears to the system as standard serial port - then you can configure Wine to work with it.
You'll need to do something like:

ln -s /dev/ttyS0 ~/.wine/dosdevices/com1


Where /dev/ttyS0 is your IRDA device's serial port. Also make sure you ca read/write to it.
