It works for me in 0.9.58 through 1.0rc1; I haven't had to reinstall.  Aside 
from Auran Trainz, I don't have anything other than Steam, and a few GoldSrc 
and Source games installed via Steam installed in my ~/.wine.  What's 
different for you?
