[Wine] Office 2003 setup crashes

After preparing the MS Office 2003 setup with the cd key, user data, and selections for installation... it crashes.  The cd doesn't even start spinning, and the resulting error is as follows.

The program msiexec.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I've searched the web, and these forums for answers, but come up dry so far.  This is the second computer I've run into this issue with.

Anyone got an idea?
