I have the same error compiling wine-1.1.34. I'm using Fedora 12 too. openssl-1.0.0-0.13.beta4.fc12.i686 is the only version I can find in F12's repositories. Downgrading it might break a lot of installed packages.
Btw wine-1.1.33 compiles without errors on the same F12 installation.
