[Wine] Steam games not working under OpenSuse 11.2

Hello everyone,

I recently got a new system with much upgraded hardware and looked forward to being able to play some of the Steam games I had played on my old one. It's not happening though. I get different error messages or none at all when I try to start the games. None of my Steam games currently work.

The games I'm trying to play (using Wine under OpenSuse 11.2) are Halflife original, and Dawn of War, Winter Assault and Dark Crusade. I have played all of them previously on my old system (Suse 11.1 and a very old Nvidia card).

First some history and details. I'm using the latest version of Wine I can get using YaST (1.1.28-2.3). My video card is a a Radeon 3850. I had considerable trouble getting the ATI proprietary drivers (9-11) working for my o.s. I had installed steam and the games, then while trying to install ATI's drivers I knocked out my gui. I reinstalled OpenSuse 11.2 to solve that problem. Steam and the games I had downloaded already were still there but I had to reinstall Wine. Then I got the ATI drivers properly installed. I can play ioQuake Urban Terror well so I'm assuming the 3d drivers are properly installed and working.

When my games still didn't work I cleared out steam and deleted everything, thinking that the re-installation of the o.s. might be the source of the problem. I deleted then reinstalled wine, steam and dowloaded the games again. That didn't help.

The Dawn of War games don't start at all. I get the beginnings of a window on the task bar but it disappears after several seconds. I've included the terminal output below. I hope it's helpful. Half life crashes out with the following message:

fatal error: could not load filesystem.dll. filesystem crashed during construction

I checked the integrity of the game files for Half Life. They're fine. I'm wondering if this is a permission error. I'm relatively new to Linux and there's a lot I don't know. The command line isn't my friend yet.

Thanks you for your attention.
