Hello,

if your X server is set so 16 bit color depth, you can try to set it to 24bit. Depending on your linux distribution, there should be a GUI command, in opensuse it's Sax2. You then have to restart X, just logging out from KDE/Gnome may not be enough, at least not for me with opensuse 11.0. You can restart X either by rebooting, or switching to console by Ctrl-Alt-F1, logging in as root, typing the commands "init 3", "init 5". After a few seconds you should see your KDE/Gnome desktop again.
