the openAL version that is available in the ubuntu repositories is 1.8, you need at least 1.10.
so try the alternative that is listed in the appDB: create a file .alsoftrc in /home/your_user_name/ and insert the following two lines:
slots=1
sends=1 

as stated in the appDb entry that fixes the problem. if it is surprisingly still there post again here and use wine 1.1.32 until we find a solution for you ;-)
