Austin sir...you rock my socks.  The source code is patched but I'm still having a little trouble compiling it.  I entered in (after patching the code of course):

 ./configure --verbose

which returned 

bash: ./configure: No such file or directory

I then tried:  /configure && make depend & make 

which returned 

bash: line 10: /configure: No such file or directory
[1] 15955
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found.  Stop.
[1]+  Exit 127                /configure && make depend

clearly something is amiss
