You could uninstall wine, download the expected previous version on http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/archive/ubuntu/jaunty/ & install it manually... (or use gdebi for this)
Or, more usefully, you could tell devs what kind of regression has occurred, and if possible do some regression testing; cf http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting.

Creating a bug report on http://bugs.winehq.org/ could also help (please check first if it hasn't been reported yet)
