Hi Vitamin, 

Thanks for your reply. If I cold boot the machine and ensure no other applications are running (including all the background processes I can identify that might use the audio bus) I don't see any change in behaviour; i.e running winecfg still tells me there are no audio devices present  :( 

Any other pointers you can think of?
