[Wine] Correct usage of winebrowser to launch files

Hi all,
I'm having problems with winebrowser. I followed the FAQ at http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-e03d797155ac6e9d8176f045acbdeebc28ad33d4 and that works, except for when the files have # in their filename (when # is the first character it works).
I submitted a bug at 
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20720
but that was rejected because of user error. And yes that initial comment wasn't looking like the FAQ entry, but the problem persists even when I follow the FAQ instructions to the letter.
Now can anyone help me figure what's wrong? Either I'm doing something wrong, the FAQ is wrong or there is a bug (that maybe only there on OS X).
