[Wine] Can't upgrade to newest Wine

Using Wine 1.0.1 on Ubuntu 8.10, I am unable to upgrade to the latest Wine.

I have followed the instructions at http://www.winehq.org/download/deb. The Wine repository appears in the list of Software Sources, and it is checked. Scott Ritchie's key appears in the list of trusted software providers. I have reloaded the package information in Synaptic.

Yet when I search for Wine in Synaptic, the only thing that appears is 1.0.1. If I try to upgrade from the command line (sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install wine), it tells me I already have the latest version of Wine.

Any ideas?
