[Wine] Oblivion periodic slowdowns

I've had this problem ever since I started using WINE to run games, which would be for the last 6 months.

Basically, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion runs fine for a few minutes but then gets hit with a massive FPS drop that lasts for a few seconds before returning to normal again. This does not happen a lot when I first run the game, but after its been running for a few minutes it gets more frequent. If I completely turn the machine off and on again, it only reduces the frequency back to its original state. I've had this problem with World of Warcraft, when I played it (I played up unto a few weeks after the Crusade patch was dropped). Being outdoors appears to make things worse and, up until I installed some DLC content for Oblivion, it never occurred indoors.

The only other thing I noticed that, at least while WoW was running, usage for both CPUs (I'm running a dual core PC) jumped to around 100% usage while RAM use stayed constant. I don't know if this is the case for Oblivion.

I've looked everywhere for answers to this problem, but I've only found people discussing it. The closest is on appdb, where it discusses something about WINE running out of virtual memory. This is very frustrating and any and all help would be appreciated.
