[Wine] Open Canvas 1.1 Networking and other questions

Since my recent jump to Linux I've found myself wanting to use several of the Windows programs that I'm accustomed to. I've had good results with Ubuntu V 9.04 and running said programs under WINE v 1.1.29, usually in Windows 2000 mode with little to no problems.

My questions are as follows:

1. Is is still possible to use Open Canvas 1.1's networking feature to connect with other users?

2. Also is this possible without having to rely on networking software such as Hamachi, ghamachi, or wippien?

3. And... is it possible to do this cross platform?
(Ex: My Ubuntu machine to a friend's Windows PC)

4. A strange issue I've noticed when running Open Canvas is that when panning around the canvas the image will only move approximately a few inches and then stop, thus I have to keep picking it back up to move to a new area or use navigation window. Is there any way to resolve this under WINE?

5. When I use a somewhat larger canvas size such as more than 1000 x1000 the Program usually crashes. I partially suspect that its due to an older system, however when I return to the program and attempt to load a new file or reopen older work I usually receive a string of error messages that usually say something like:

"Program has encountered a serious error and needs to close please contact Wine Support @ www.winehq.org"

shortly followed by a second that says something along the lines of:

 ????????????????????
"EAccessViolation???? wintab32.dll?????? 0012D12?????? wintab32.dll'?????? 7D302D12 ????? 000000E8 ?????????????,

What could be causing this and what would be the best recommended action to fix it?

Some insight into my problems would be greatly appreciated.
