I haven't tried it yet. But be sure that I checked that -O2 is being used on wine, because I watched the entire compilation process.
I'm sorry to tell that I have being only testing the unstable tree of Gentoo, so I figured out that it should be consequence of the use of gcc 4.4.3.
Now I've make a completely mess on my system and I had to reinstall it.
Then, now, I can't test what happens if I compile without portage.
