[Wine] programs no longer work

I had myriad problem in Ubuntu 9.10 after attempting to install ALSA. I have finally, (I think) got them all fixed except for my wine programs.

All ran fine prior to this problem, now none will start. When I look at properties on my exe files, "open with" is listed as "archive manager". I don't know what it should be, but this does not sound correct. 

I am new to linux and to wine but have been around many years on other operating systems. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
