[Wine] Forged Alliance, Ubuntu9.10

hello, iam new to ubuntu and tried to setup forged alliance, i installed it and patched the game using winetools but everytime i start it it tells me:

"unable to start - Unable to create Direct3D"
Please ensure system has current video drivers.

i use the latest video drivers from nvidia ( version 185 ) which ubuntu recommends.

i also tried those playonlinux scripts, and to patch it on a vm.. patchting and safemod do always work fine but starting fails.

my graphic card is an nvidia gts 250.

I tried to start WoW and Warcraft3 from my windows partition and they worked both.
