About point 1, C: should point to ~/.wine/drive_c, so it doesn't matter if you can see the .wine directory or not. If you have a folder selector, start from "My Computer" instead of / and it should show you Wine's mapped drive letters.

About point 2, try this in Windows. If it happens there too, this is not a Wine bug but an application bug. If it DOESN'T happen in Windows, you should file a bug about this.
