His PC _does_ meet the recommended requirements.

Starcraft 2 runs painfully slow compared to Windows.  For instance, I have a nVidia Geforce 330M with 512mb of video ram.  My friend comes in with his old 8600M GT with 256mb of video ram and plays on Ultra settings with a silky smooth 60fps.

I can't even manage medium.  If you google online, my card is supposed to be 2-3x faster than his.

And just for some specs: Linux 2.6.35-rc6 + current wine git.

I would say that my laptop should meet some maximum requirements list.  But the real problem here is that we're seeing the game run at about 1/6th to 1/8th of the speed of running natively on windows (600 to 800% slower).  Even counter strike source manages only running about 10-20% slower...
