[Wine] MSI failure while trying to install gmax

So I am trying to get back to finding the error in gmax, and I have to reinstall it because of the new machine and all. So I tried just putting it in after downloading it from TurboSquid. It complained about MSI having a major error, and quit, leaving me with a partial install. I got a panel suggesting this might be a problem with wine.

So I used winetricks to install msi2. Failed again: Here is the console output from both the msi2 winetricks install and the attempt to install gmax.

I would really appreciate some advice here. I may have missed something in preparing my environment or this could be a legitimate bug. Please advise.
