I didn't quite understand your last post, do you mean you tried some other Windows games in Wine and they work well? Because then we can know for sure that your video drivers are installed properly. If so, try the games you had problems with now. :)

Yes, it does. You will always have to check if your video card is (officially or unofficially) supported in Linux.

Since your card IS mentioned in https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/catalyst_109_linux.pdf it should probably just work once you install the driver, anyway.
