Are you calling a .lnk file from within a directory?
Try this instead for this program:
cd $HOME/.wine/drive_c/users/Public/Desktop/Vampire\ -\ The\ Masquerade
wine start "Vampire - The Masquerade Bloodlines.lnk'
OR
Locate where the program was installed to (usually
$HOME/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/<some directory name here>
and run the program's executable.

Try using a virtual desktop to eliminate this error. Set it to 800x600.

This may adding a setting in the registry to show actual amount of
memory on your video card. The default is 256MB.
This has been discussed in the forum before please search for it.
