That version of Wine is very old and no longer supported. You need to upgrade to at least the latest stable release (1.2.2). Your OS is also quite old, so there may not be newer Wine packages available for it. In that case, you will have to build it yourself.

I'm not really sure what you mean by this. If you mean that you tried using native kernel32.dll, that won't work. Wine cannot use native kernel32.dll.
