No, you are not an idiot.  If you had ASKED, we would have told you that 
the .wine folder does not get deleted.  Reading the FAQ might have given 
you some idea that this is so as well.  I've used the same .wine folder 
for quite some time now for testing.  I also have several other Wine 
Prefixes for programs that I don't want to disturb, but it is time to 
update them as well.
