You are assuming the type of GPU its detecting is what is limiting your graphics options.

I have several cards in games that are detected correctly, but because its Wine running on top of another OS with different drivers, often many graphics options are not supported or working right anyways... and its nothing to do with the detection.  Normally running in Wine, you'll always have missing graphics options no matter what it detects as.  You'll get some more if you try to enable multisampling though... works for some games.  You can set it in the registry, look at this link...
