Your log makes it look like ie6 installed just fine. What problem are you having, again? But it also shows you're running as root. How did you log in to Linux? What username did you use? What does whoami who am i display if you run them in a terminal? Did you use sudo bash or something? After doing that, the terminal session is running as root.
