I had the same problem . PAP stopped working after an update.

Heres what I did,

I am on Kubuntu Maverick

Uninstalled Wine and ran 'sudo apt-get autoremove'

Deleted .wine folder from home directory

Downloaded wine version wine1.3_1.3.26-0 from here

http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/archive/index.html

Installed gdiplus from winetricks

And installed PAP 4.0

Also disabled wine update for now.

Everything works just fine.
