V5.05b Jungo (c)2002" doesn't look as though it came from Microsoft. 

I haven't programmed for Windows since Win95 or for parallel ports under
Windows. However, I did write some C that had to access a serial port.
That was a bitch because neither DOS7 nor Win95 provided a shred of
support for serial hardware - you either rolled your own from scratch or
bought a 3rd party library. I suspect the same applied to the parallel
port too and that Windows doesn't supply direct assess because it
expects you to use the print spooler. However, I don't know if this
situation improved with Windows 2000 and later versions.

they suggest.

Of course, if your Linux box has enough grunt, you might consider
running the programmer under Windows inside a VM.
