Hello wine-users,

We, David and Catarina have started to carry out new research in/on
winemaking. And we also want to test if crowdfunding is an option to fund
scientific research.

Re: the winemaking, we want to verify a very simple hypothesis: if the moon
effects the quality of grapevine berries, just like it effects high tides
and low tides.

Sounds esoteric, but it's actually a very scientific approach. (It is not a
joke, as you may assume =)

We want to carry out a simple experiment, measuring the circumference of
grapevine berries (its volume) and comparing the data with data on the
changing moon cycles and lunar gravities (basically with high tide and low
tide a long two moon cycles, from this mid June 2014).

To make this happen, we wish to buy a couple of precision dentrometers,
small devices that measure very small variations in grape berry size.
Because such dendrometers are quite expensive (around EUR 500 for a system,
see image below), we have put up a crowdfunding page

You do realise that this mailing list is about a tool for running
Microsoft Windows programs on Unix, and not to do with the fermented
beverage, right?

Subject: [Wine] Nexus: The Jupiter Incident demo crashes at startup -
 confirmation needed

Hi,

There is the 10th anniversary of "Nexus: The Jupiter Incident" and
wanted to play it again. Unfortunately both GOG version as well as a
demo crashes at startup (with both nexus_DX8.exe and nexus_DX9.exe).
Nexus seems to work fine with Wine [1] in the past and I wonder if it is
a repression in Wine or something with my system/hardware.

I have a laptop with "Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor
Family Integrated Graphics Controller" (so probably Intel HD 3000/2000),
but this game is from 2004 and I played with it on GeForce 2 MX which
much less powerful than mentioned Intel HD.
Selinux was switched into permissive mode.
wine-1.7.18-1.fc19.x86_64 (from the official Fedora repository)

Questions:
1. Do you have any idea what could be a problem (backtrace [3])?
2. Could someone check Nexus demo [2] to verify that the game
crashes/works fine?

Tested also with wine-1.7.19-1.fc19.x86_64 - the same effect.
