Just on the copy protection note I work for a car dealer network and I can confirm that Holden (GM), Subaru, and Daimler-Chrysler all use parts applications with strict lock outs. Most of the applications require verbal over the phone activation, others have dongles, all of them have cd verification; this is all in an effort to stop them being taken out of the workshop.

I would find it very odd if Ford wasn't part of this and I suspect your chances of running these applications under WINE to be low. On top of this they tend to be rather badly written so if they did run you'd probably have a larger issues getting the app to work stably.

Read the help files or try the FORD support. You may need m$ie or some
other kamikaze app. Remove or rename c:\FORD & run 'f:\\setup.exe' from
the xterm. In my experience, such software goes in a straight line and
if it runs into a problem, stops. No development time - the software is
an afterthought. Ford may help you debug it.

_______________________________________________
wine-users mailing list
