I sent the wrong file. Sorry. I'll send right one.

On 7/7/07, M Thompson <mexbeachbum@gmail.com> wrote:

To answer your questions:

(1) My printer is supported by linux. I can even print photos just not very good quality. I am trying to see if this software will help (I had to use the software on XP too to get the best quality-ridiculous I know).

(2) When I run wine notepad and try to print. Nothing happens. I have attached var/log/cups/error_log but I have no terminal output to offer. Is there a command I could run when I try to print?

(3) I really would like for this software to work but it is definitely not necessary although I may try VMWare or QEmu. Wine was just the first I researched and decided to try. Honestly, I am trying everything I can think of before I just give up and buy an HP all-in-one (if I can find one that works PERFECTLY in Linux - no offense). If I can make either of these things happen, I won't even need access to a Windows box, much less a box of my own. I really like Linux - I just miss some printer functionality and it really is a Canon issue, not a linux issue. Not a huge deal but the printer is only six months old and was a good buy at the time. Honestly, I am going to be floored completely if I can make this work. There will be no end to the dancing, laughing, beer buying etc.....

You shouldn't use USB device directly. You should use CUPS subsystem only to
print from WINE. As I said earler if device isn't supported by the Linux you
cannot use it under WINE (only exception is tty or usb-tty devices). Try to
run:

wine notepad

And try to print something. If this works then everything is OK. If it
doesn't then ask for farther help and don't forget to post the terminal
output.
If NotePad works and your program do not work then there is chances it cannot
work with Windows *printer* and want to work with Windows *device* directly
instead. If you really need this then you can try VMWare (not-free) or QEmu
(free) instead of WINE.

On Saturday July 7 2007 03:20, M Thompson wrote:
