Hmm, this could go on for ever, especially as there is a two day turn round time getting a new library onto the non-internet computer.<br>

Is there a version of Wine that works out of the box with with a non-upgraded install of Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 desktop?<br>

</blockquote></div><br>If I understand the concept of Linux and open source in general, being able to upgrade is essential for proper operation. As you have discovered, it's painful otherwise. If you don't (or can't) connect this comp to the internet, you might be able to connect it to another comp that is connected, even temporarily, and use it like a server with every possible security feature active. The term "mirror" comes to mind, but I'm not sure if that is correct.<br>
