Wine(Pre)Conf

Hi all,

A couple of weeks ago Julius and I picked up the idea to host a
WinePreConf session for students and other people from the university,
to tell them about Wine. Before we submitted our proposal we talked to
a lot of students and other employees. We got some a lot of positive
responses and for that reason wanted to organize it. Since we wanted
WinePreConf to succeed and not only get 10 visitors, we wanted support
from within the university / student association to provide us with
facilities and most of all assistance with promoting the activity
(e.g. spamming students).

Thanks to bureaucracy it took a while to get in touch with the right
people. People with high positions within computer science weren't
interested. The student association from computer science,
Inter-Actief, was quite interested. Unfortunately they have an
activity weekend which starts at Friday and for that reason they
weren't interested in helping us out and a big part of the potential
visitors would be away. Next to this we have contacted others without
much luck.

While we should be able to get a lecture room without cooperation, we
fear that without assistance from e.g. students we don't get enough
attendees from outside Wine and for that reason it isn't worthwhile to
organize.

We regret that we have to announce that WinePreConf won't take place :(
