Summary: Maya PLE installer strangely unable to display text,
fails
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Keywords: download
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-msi
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
This is a continuation of bug 4430, now that Maarten's patch
fixes the GdiAlphaBlend problem.
The official registration/download URL for Maya PLE is
http://www.alias.com/glb/eng/products-services/maya/maya_ple/get_maya_ple.j…
Maya's installer puts up an initial dialog which
is wholly devoid of text. Some bug is preventing
painting, it seems. You can try to install,
and it actually prompts you for your install key,
but then fails later while unpacking the inner .msi,
or something.

Seems to get past the GdiAlphaBlend crash now,
possibly due to this patch:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-cvs/2006-January/020601.html
So it's on to the next problem.

Alternatively, if you think you understand the problem reasonably, please add a
test case that passes on Windows to dlls/ole32/tests/storage32.c.
thanks,

> Summarized: it just fails to start msiexec on the .msi file. Anyone an idea what
the cause is?
What's the msiexec command that it's trying to execute? If none, is it trying
to detect the version of msiexec.exe or msi.dll? These are builtin, right?
thanks,

The Diablo installer completes successfully using the 0.9.5 version of wine
installed from the Fedora Core 4 rpm. I have not tried installing it with
the 0.9.6 version of wine, but it's playable. If you need me to verify that
the installer works using the 0.9.6 version of wine. please let me know.

patch to launch Photoshop again
Hi, I've got some good news and some bad news for you:
I downloaded and installed the Photoshop CS 2 trial version. I installed on
Windows and tried to run on Windows. That didn't seem to be too problematic. I
got some errors about locked disks and full disks... But I could also see the
startup problem you are reporting: Photoshop launches, numerous
"CR_GetFolderAttributes HCR_GetFolderAttributes should be called for simple
PIDL's only!" messages are printed, then it terminates immediatelly.
I could trace down the problem in the shell code and found a work around for
your problem. Please try the attached patch - it should bring Photoshop
forward. However I could not really use the program because then it terminates
a bit later after displaying the toolbars. Well, may be this is because of my
irregular setup.
Now the bad news: The patch is really only a dirty work around and I don't
think it will be accepted in this form at WineHQ.

Summary: CPU usage causes Diablo II game to lose sync with self
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC
URL: http://appdb.winehq.org/commentview.php?appId=74&version
Id=315&threadId=10525
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-ipc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: silsor(a)gmail.com
When hosting a TCP/IP game with Diablo II, the game switches to the "Your
connection has been interrupted" screen when too much CPU is used by outside
processes. This happens when hosting a game, so there is no external network
connection to interrupt, although the game uses net sockets to communicate
with itself when hosting.

I tested with wine 0.9.5 and I got just a lot of this type of error.

But Installer (/usr/bin/wine-preloader process) freezes in a livelock. Strace
shows no movement. I got this from gdb but I don't know if it is usable. I'm
using wine without debug symbols.

Testing in 0.9.6 could help?
